Director
Charles is the Director of Tyto Contracting and has been part of the team since May 2023. With almost 30 years of experience in the construction industry and a strong background in commercial and project management, Charles has successfully delivered diverse projects ranging from medical to customer fulfilment centres for online retailers. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying, along with several relevant diplomas.
In his role, Charles oversees pre and post-contract activities, collaborates with other Wigley businesses, leads the tender process and project delivery, and fosters relationships with the supply chain and clients. Alongside this, Charles also manages the commercial team, providing leadership and guidance to their professional development.
His expertise and strategic insights contribute to Tyto’s success in commercial operations and project management.

Jason Taplin

Project Manager
Jason is a MCIOB chartered construction manager, bringing a wealth of construction experience to Tyto Contracting.
Working closely with the directors, and clients. Jason overseas projects from conception to delivery including the defects period. He ensures that projects run smoothly, meeting specifications and upholding safety standards. Maintaining high standards of quality and finish to programme and budget. He also overseas the operational processes and their continual development to provide efficiencies on all levels.
Previously, Jason has worked as a Project and Contracts Manager across various construction sectors including, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, commercial and leisure. Jason also has experience setting up and maintaining ISO 9001 & 14001 systems with regional contractors and was awarded a finalist place in the CIOB Construction Manager of the Year Award for his outstanding work on the Evesham fire station project.
Beyond the construction site, Jason is part of Nuneaton Hockey Club and enjoys spending time with his family, including his four grandchildren.

Danny manages the delivery of all business support operations for Tyto through Wigley Connect Ltd, managing an experienced support team of approximately 15 people.
Danny and his team are responsible for Admin, Finance, Cyber & IT, Marketing, Office Management, Administration, and Compliance services.
Wigley Connect acts an accelerator for a small number of select partners, providing critical, tailored and integrated support services that unlock their potential.
The Wigley Connect team allows businesses to focus on their core activities, knowing their critical business support is being handled diligently and efficiently.

Nick Southern

Nick joined us in April 2023, bringing with him significant experience in the construction industry. Nick is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and has been involved in a range of different projects including new business parks, education projects, health centres, fire stations, care homes and large retail outfits as well as residential schemes.
Nick is responsible for managing the construction contract’s financial process including cash flow forecasts, interim valuations, agreeing costs of variations and contract final accounts. He also takes care of the selection and processing of subcontract orders, making interim payments and settling accounts. In addition to this, Nick undertakes cost/value reconciliations, implements commercial procedures, and helps resolve contract disputes while collaborating with other members of the department, client representatives and designers.

Dan Young

Design Manager
Dan is our Design Manager, joining the team in July 2023. Dan has a HNC in Construction and has a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology from Coventry University both completed part time through an apprenticeship .He is now also registered as an associate member of CIAT and is working towards full membership status.
Dan has experience of JCT Traditional, Design & Build, and NEC Type contracts, and has overseen the design management of projects up to £56m value in a variety of sectors including private residential, private care and NHS.
Dan is active in all stages of projects, from tender through to completion. During preconstruction, Dan assists in delivering winning bids by identifying risks/opportunities as well as carrying out technical reviews of the tender information and subcontractor proposals. When the contract is live, Dan manages the design process to generate construction status information, collaborating with the commercial and production teams to ensure the design is not only contract compliant but also within budget and practically buildable.

Senior Site Manager
Ian is our Senior Site Manager at Tyto Contracting and joined the team in July 2021. Ian ensures all of our project participants know their roles and responsibilities while carrying out work safely and to the highest possible standard. He is responsible for the health and welfare of everyone on site as well as interacting with onsite operatives.
Ian has more than 33 years of experience in the industry, starting as an apprentice bricklayer and working his way up to site manager running commercial projects, working on large variations of projects including specialist hospital wards, fire stations, health centres and schools. He has a diploma in Site Management and has also completed PASMA, IPAF, SMSTS and Scaffold Awareness Training. He is also a qualified temporary works coordinator and a black CSCS card holder.

Quantity Surveyor Apprentice
Max is our Quantity Surveyor Apprentice, joining the team in October 2022. During school, Max completed work experience in construction, which he thoroughly enjoyed, this led him to join the Group.
Max’s role includes supporting our quantity surveyors and the wider team in current and upcoming projects, placing orders and assisting in the build of tender packages. He also regularly attends site visits.
